LA Live Vine Contest

L.A. LIVE just launched an exciting Vine contest to help promote the Los Angeles Film Festival taking place here at Regal Cinemas from June 13th – 23rd. The contest entails creating a Vine video in a genre of your choice (selected from 6 pre-determined genres) and submitting it via Twitter with our hash tag #LALIVEtake6 (in addition to liking their pages). The contest runs now through June 6th.

The top 3 winners receive some great prizes. The “Ultimate LA Film Fest Packages” include seeing an advanced screening of Man of Steel, seats to a Spike Jonze conversation, announcements on both L.A. LIVE and Los Angeles Film Festival websites/social media outlets and other awesome perks during the festival. More details on the contest can be found here.

Video Contest Guidelines

This competition is open to all filmmakers (amateur and professional) and anyone with a desire to participate and share their creativity and passion for Hollywood! Entrants under eighteen (18) must have a parent or legal guardian sign the Participant’s Agreement for them.

WHAT?

Participants are asked to create a short video, no more than 5 (five) minutes long, showing what Sunset and Vine means to them. Working individually or in small teams, participants may only use cell phone cameras or other similar personal video devices. Professional camera equipment is not allowed and films made using such equipment will not be eligible. The film may be edited using any means available. Any music or pre-recorded sound effects are allowed but participant must have the rights to use them.

WHEN?

Films must be completed and received by the Show Me Sunset & Vine Short Film Contest Committee by Thursday, May 16, 2013. The Committee will select the finalists for public voting. On Thursday, May 23, 2013, the voting period will open on the Hollywood HQ Facebook Page (www.facebook.com/HollywoodHQ). Only the finalists, as selected by the Committee, will enter into the public voting round.

WHERE?

Videos should be filmed within the boundaries of the Sunset & Vine Business Improvement District (BID) and include at least three (3) of the twelve (12) landmarks listed on the next page. For a map of the BID boundaries, see next page.

WHY?

In conjunction with the 2nd annual Sunset & Dine event (www.sunsetanddine.org), the board of the Central Hollywood Coalition (CHC), which manages the Sunset & Vine BID, would like to continue the tradition of inviting the community to help creatively showcase the area in the Sunset & Vine District as a unique, vibrant and exciting destination that is home to creative individuals, businesses and organizations. The selected films will be used by the Sunset & Vine BID for marketing and public relations purposes. The creators of the selected films will also be awarded with honors and prizes, including one (1) $500 grand prize for each category (18 years of age or under, and over 18). The selected films will be determined by a public vote and at the discretion of the Committee.

HOW?

Finished films should be submitted on DVD or computer file (disc, flash drive or e-mail), to the office of the Hollywood Property Owners Alliance, 1680 N. Vine Street, Suite 414, Hollywood CA, 90028 by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2013. See additional rules on next page.

Korean American Film Festival New York

KAFFNY invites filmmakers of all backgrounds to submit for consideration their completed long- and short-format films — fiction or non-fiction — that are relevant to the Korean American community, the Korean diaspora, Korean identified persons, or, as our name implies, New York City. KAFFNY also considers works outside the Korean nexus featuring at least one key creative member of Korean heritage, regardless of the subject matter. ABOUT KAFFNY

Originally founded in 2006 as the Korean American Shorts Film Festival New York, KAFFNY has evolved into one of the most prominent and innovative film, music, and art festivals focusing on the Korean and Korean American experience. Each year, KAFFNY continues to recognize and support new filmmakers and artists, placing emphasis on the diversity of content, form, and perspective
in its programming. Previous festival venues include Anthology Film Archives, TheTimesCenter,

Television Four’s 2013 Veterans Pitch Fest

In the coming weeks, Television Four is launching a YouTube channel in support of military Veterans. The channel will cover veteran affairs issues, but is primarily a general entertainment distribution outlet for Veterans that create great content.

GearFest Mixing Competition

The 16 ‘best mix’ winners will be awarded prizes, in order of merit, from the fantastic below list.

The competition starts April 16th 2013, the deadline for mix submissions being June 1st 2013. All entries will be listened to by the pureMix.net team and the 16 winners will be picked by Fab Dupont on a basis of mixing skills, tone crafting, use of space, taste and creativity. All winners will be announced on stage at Sweetwater’s GearFest 2013 on June 21st, on the website.

The Power Orange Challenge, is a great opportunity for students to win cash prizes as the grand prize winner receives $5,000.

Collaboration Filmmakers Challenge

COLLABORATION FILMMAKERS CHALLENGE YEAR 2 CONTEST
The CFC is a one-of-a-kind nonprofit film festival in Los Angeles. Get paired with another filmmaker and make two movies in two weeks. Are you a writer in search of a cameraman? An editor looking for a director? Worry not wallflowers, let CFC make the connection for you!
