Cheech & Chong visit LAFS

CHEECH AND CHONG VISIT THE LOS ANGELES FILM SCHOOL IN CELEBRATION OF THEIR UPCOMING BLU-RAY RELEASE “CHEECH AND CHONG’S ANIMATED MOVIE”

Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong are presently making the rounds to promote their new movie Cheech and Chong’s Animated Movie. They spent Wednesday evening at The Los Angeles Film School entertaining a crowd of approximately 300 Los Angeles Film School students and alumni with their classic humor and hysterical chemistry. The Q&A preceding the screening of their film was moderated by LA Film School faculty member and Course Director Michael Peter Bolus Ph.D.

Known for his great improvisational acting abilities, Cheech addressed how he integrates his style into scripted productions, “When you show the director and the other actors that you know actually what the basic material is and you can juice it up and improv and you show that ‘here’s the difference,’ it’s like bringing in another drummer, tss, tss, tss… and they start playing that way too and it loosens up the whole thing. It’s all music, it really is all music.”

The Grammy award-winning comedy team of Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong originally came together in the 1970’s with their stand up comedy, films and albums being a mainstay in the hippy counter culture. Parting for a while in the 80’s and 90’s, they have come back together in recent years and the chemistry and comedic timing of the pair has not missed a beat.

Cheech and Chong’s Animated Movie will be released on blu-ray April 23rd.

National Honors Society Film Screening of “Blumental”

Join The National Honors Society this Thursday, April 11th at 7:30pm for a very fun film screening of Blumental.

Click the link to RSVP —> http://blumenthallafs.eventbrite.com

Blumenthal is a film about three Blumenthals. There’s Harold (Brian Cox), the famous playwright who died laughing at his own joke. There’s his brother, Saul (Mark Blum), an English professor who feels entitled to a bit of Harold’s success and has had some issues, ahem, not letting things… go. And there’s Saul’s son, Ethan (Seth Fisher), a pharmaceutical rep who’s obsessed with finding the perfect fit. He wears nurse’s shoes and can’t stand his girlfriend Christina’s (Mei Melancon) sloppy eating. At the beginning of this tale of three Blumenthals, Saul is sitting shiva for Harold, and Ethan has just dumped Christina. We also can’t forget Saul’s wife, Cheryl (Laila Robins), an actress assessing her age and her career in the wake of Harold’s death. All of our Blumenthals, in their own analytical/intellectual ways, are reeling out of control, trying to exert mind over (bodily) matter and failing miserably.

As with ALL events seating is first come first serve and so please arrive early.

We take a larger number of RSVPs than seats available to compensate for the no-show percentage so all seating is first come first serve, however if tickets are sold out you are welcome to show up anyways and you will be seated if room becomes available.

Use of cell phones or computers during the screening is strictly prohibited and you will be asked to leave.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact Lauren at lsteinmetz@lafstemp.com.
