Students Receive 50% Discount for TCM Classic Film Fest

TCM Classic Film Festival is at the end of this month and student ID’s can buy an individual show ticket for 50% off. Venues where the screenings will take place are all within walking distance: The Roosevelt, Avalon Hollywood, The Egyptian Theater and more.

Held over four days in the heart of Hollywood, the TCM Classic Film Festival is a place where movie lovers from around the world can gather to experience classic movies as they were meant to be experienced: on the big screen, in some of the world’s most iconic venues, with the people who made them. COLLABORATION FILMMAKERS CHALLENGE YEAR 2 CONTEST
The CFC is a one-of-a-kind nonprofit film festival in Los Angeles. Get paired with another filmmaker and make two movies in two weeks. Are you a writer in search of a cameraman? An editor looking for a director? Worry not wallflowers, let CFC make the connection for you!

On May 4th, CFC will screen the best entries in front of a packed house of industry members and esteemed judges, including Kurt Loder, Matthew Lillard, and Slamdance president Peter Baxter. Film Instructor Carrie LeGrand’s Feature Film “Detour”

Congratulations to Film Instructor Carrie LeGrand on the premiere of Detour, a feature film she produced, which opens in theaters this Friday, March 29th.

“Olympus Has Fallen” Screening Tonight

Olympus Has Fallen is screening tonight at the Arc Light Theaters and they are allowing The Los Angeles Film School students to attend, however it is first come first serve. Be at the door to check in at 6:30pm tonight. Movie starts at 7:30pm. They will be allowing people in until they reach capacity, so make sure you show up early.

Premiere of “Spring Breakers” this Thursday

Students, staff, faculty and alumni of The Los Angeles Film School are invited to attend the premiere of Spring Breakers this Thursday, March 14th at the Hollywood Arc Light Cinemas. The movie has been garnering a lot of buzz and is from the avant-garde filmmaker Harmony Korine, who wrote Kids and directed Gummo. It stars James Franco, Selena Gomez, and Vanessa Hudgens.

Tonight at 7:30pm in the Main Theater is the alumni film screening of Cold Water.

 

“Dark Skies” Film Screening at Arclight

Tonight at 7pm at the Hollywood Arclight Dome across the street, there is a fan screening for the new Dimension Films thriller Dark Skies.

Dark Skies is produced by Jason Blum (of Paranormal Activity, Insidious, and Sinister) and Scott Stewart.  There will be giveaways, free food, a DJ and more.

The National Honors Society for Entertainment Arts Film Screening: “City of God”

The National Honors Society for Entertainment Arts is pleased to announce their first screening for 2013, City of God this Monday, February 18th at 8pm in the Main Theater. Open to ALL students, faculty and staff.

Synopsis: Two boys growing up in a violent neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro take different paths: one becomes a photographer, the other a drug dealer.
