ABOUT KAFFNY

Originally founded in 2006 as the Korean American Shorts Film Festival New York, KAFFNY has evolved into one of the most prominent and innovative film, music, and art festivals focusing on the Korean and Korean American experience. Each year, KAFFNY continues to recognize and support new filmmakers and artists, placing emphasis on the diversity of content, form, and perspective
in its programming. Previous festival venues include Anthology Film Archives, TheTimesCenter,
SVA Theatre, Chelsea Clearview Cinemas, as well as gallery and outdoor public spaces in New York City. KAFFNY’s slate of works culls together domestic and international feature film premieres as well as a dynamic cross-section of works by established and student filmmakers from all over the world. Concurrent with the festival program, KAFFNY further extends the reach and message of its featured artists through discussions and special events.

Whether presenting a live musical re-score of the 1956 classic Korean film, “Madame Freedom,” showcasing the works of pioneering video artist Nam June Paik and documentary filmmaker Dai Sil Kim-Gibson, or screening meaningful and relevant programs about the Los Angeles Riots, KAFFNY moves across platforms to bring forth the richest cultural examination of Korean and Korean American life. Submit your film and be part of this year’s exciting fall season!

YoungCuts Film Festival

2013 YoungCuts Film Festival Call for Submissions

Submit your film today to the Premiere Showcase for Great Short Films by the World’s Best Young Filmmakers

The YoungCuts Film Festival is looking for Great Short Films by the World’s Best Young Filmmakers (29 and under).

Groups of 5 of more receive half off regular rates.

Established in 2001, the YoungCuts Film Festival is the Premiere Showcase for young, emerging talent. Every year, the festival selects its Top 100 International Short Films from more than a thousand films from over 30 countries.

Unlike many film festivals, YoungCuts is not a black box. For filmmakers making paid submissions, they offer feedback when and where appropriate; they present the short films to their film industry partners including producers, distributors and programmers of more than 50 other film festivals – this has led to short films being presented on TV, licensed for outdoor festivals and programmed by other film festivals who view them as an expert on short films by young filmmakers. With your paid submission, you also gain privileged access to watch, vote and be inspired by great short films from young filmmakers around the world.

There are awards in 12 categories including Best Picture, Best Animated Film, Best Documentary and Best Short Short Film (film under five minutes).

Anyone interested in watching or voting for great films can support the festival and subscribe. (Currently, that gives you access to more than 400 short films.) Every month, beginning in January, they will have a new slate of free films to vote on.

Filmmakers can submit their films online HERE

Send your film that is under 30 minutes long if you are a filmmaker under 30 years old.

The regular deadline for the Festival is April 30th, but they accept films until June 15th. They announce their Top 100 International Short Films in July and program them in Montreal, the last week of September 2013.

For more information contact the Festival Director, Michael Ryan:  festivaldirector@YoungCuts.com

Mission and Objective

The Evolution International Film Festival seeks to “Make peace through art.” bringing together established and aspiring filmmakers across the globe for a traveling showcase of outstanding storytelling.  We believe every movie deserves an international audience and screening films across four continents delivers that and more.

2012’s EIFF launched to major acclaim and fanfare at its Hollywood premier event on March 18th, at the Los Angeles Film School. The program included 21 globally relevant films from artists with diverse viewpoints from Egypt, Switzerland, Mexico, Lebanon, and more, including Raju, the 2012 Academy Award nominated short from Germany.

EIFF Palma de Mallorca Spain screened 30 international titles over five days from October 21st-26th 2012, honoring award-winning filmmakers including Roland Suso Richter’s The Tunnel, Benito Zambrano’s La Voz Dormida and the ground-breaking award winning female filmmaker Feo Aladag who presented her feature film When We Leave. The festival screened 4 entries also shown at EIFF Hollywood and was full of networking events, industry panels, Q&A’s and a premiere screening of Buscando a Eimish by director Ana Rodriguez Rosello.
